Down with Urinary Tract Infection for the second time since a month ago.
*Sighs*
Well, yesterday, I noticed in the evening that I had begun to run to the toilet more often. I told Ben I'd go to the doctor the next day if the symptoms persisted. At 1am, I went for a pee... At first it was fine. Toward the end of the pee, the familiar burning and cramping pain began... and there was haematuria (blood in urine).
I went shivering to bed.
Needless to say, I didn't stay in bed for long. Ben and I got dressed and drove to a 24-hour clinic. The doctor I saw was negligent and a lazy-bum. He didn't do any urine test, no pregnancy test... prodded me a little in the tummy...and prescribed me Bactrim and paracetamol. Plus, he wrote "Urinary Tract Infection" on a piece of paper and told me to Google it myself! Duh! :S (Next time, I'd rather go to the emergency department of the General Hospital!) Today, I panicked when I realized that Bactrim is contraindicated for pregnancy (I'm not pregnant btw; but it's good to be always careful) - so I visited my usual GP.
Did a urine test. I'm not preggy, thankfully. But apparently, I am having a severe urinary tract infection. So I had my antibiotics changed from Bactrim (Trimethoprim Sulfamethaxole) to Norfloxacin.
I don't know why I am so prone to UTIs... I use a lot of toilet paper when I pee and practice scrupulous hygiene, whenever and whatever. I'm hoping that this won't be a regular thing. Not only it's painful and uncomfortable; eating too much antibiotics too often is BAD and expensive.
