My mother-in-law shared something from her closet-time with God the other day. It was simple and down-to-earth, but rather profound.
"God is teaching me not to hold on too tightly to everything..." (By saying "everything", she meant her money, possessions and the people whom she loves.)
"If you let loose your grip, it won't be so painful when God chooses to take them away... No matter what, all we have belongs to Him. He has the right to take them away whenever He wants, and we shouldn't be angry..."
How true.
Perhaps, if we trust God and thus, loosen those fingers ~ our hearts would be much lighter as we cease to obsess over guarding what we cannot keep. The burdens on our backs would become light. And our feet would dance a free dance, because there is yet hope in pain.
