Pre-registration day at MBTS (my 11th so far - so that you get a clue of how long I've been here :P)... and hence, I have picked my subjects for the next term. I trust that God will bring the provisions soon.
This week, I didn't have any classes - so I spent more time meeting up with people, reading and studying - besides working at the music school which I'm currently affiliated with. I've got 5 little girls to teach now - all with different personalities. It has been both fun and fulfilling. (Of course, it's just the beginning - and I am not disregarding the pains/struggles/difficulties that I might have in the future.) I hope to be a good piano teacher - but more than anything, may I be a faithful shepherd who tends not only to their musical education, but also to their holistic development as the individuals whom God loves.
God was faithful to answer my prayers for a less-ancient version of the Korean Bible. A Korean friend, who has been kindly helping with my conversational Korean for the past 7 months or so, helped me to obtain it online (E-version). Now that I have it on my laptop, I shall be able to study both the ancient and less-ancient versions side by side. Reading God's Word in Korean (instead of my usual English) has been refreshing indeed.
Regarding my language studies ~~~ (Btw, those of you who often wonder why I'm always studying Korean, it's not about K-Pop which I don't know how to appreciate - no offense. Maybe if I were 10 years younger I would. But well, if you ever want to know more about my "pursuit", please do ask me personally) ~~~ I was studying by myself in the cafe the other day (actually I was trying to look for some synonyms of some of the ancient words in my Korean Bible), when I received some unexpected encouragement. A Korean lady and her little boy approached me out of nowhere and asked me where I was from. Upon knowing the answer, the lady's face lit up and she exclaimed delightedly, "Is it??? You have very nice hand-writing!" This was what she was pointing at:
Can you imagine how touched and encouraged I was? :P
We even held an amiable conversation in the middle of Starbucks. I found out that the lady is here (in Penang) to learn English. Although I looked blank once or twice, I could still understand and respond to her. The little boy didn't seem to be fazed by my spurts of "blur"; he told me his name and that he wanted to learn how to play the drums. That was one of the best encouragements for me this week. Thank You, God!
The weekend is here... so do have a good one, people!
