I will never - and I repeat, NEVER - shop for hair conditioners in a hurry again.
Once bitten, eternally shy.
Realising that I have run out of the magic formula that keeps my hair soft, manageable and fuss-free... I decided to run into a drugstore right before work this afternoon to buy whatever was on sale. (I'm quite cheapskate when it comes to hair conditioners. Whatever is cheap and works goes.)
I happened to get my hands on something organic. It wasn't too costly - so I thought, why not?
I speed-read the product description on its containing bottle. The ingredients seemed rather exotic, not to mention impressive. Gugo bark extract, calamansi, peppermint essential oil and organic virgin coconut oils were on the list. The concoction promised a treat for my tresses, while conferring beauty and strength. "Dramatically reduce hair breakage and loss..." the bottle persuaded. That was when I noticed how pretty the bottle was! Simple but pretty. My heart melted.
Well, work had to begin soon. And so, I conveniently said YES to Gugo bark, calamansi, peppermint and virgin coconut oil.
In the fullness of time, Gugo bark, calamansi, peppermint and virgin coconut oil were summoned to make their first impression. And what an impression they made!
I gagged in the shower while the conditioner embraced the ends of my hair.
Yups. Gagged. The smell is... tricky. Quite a character, in fact. Perhaps, it is an acquired taste. (The hubby didn't find the smell that bad.)
Rinsing did not reduce my repulsion. (Hair seems to be doing fine though. The conditioner had better do what it is supposed to do!)
After my bath, I prayed that God would give me the grace to finish up the contents of the bottle. Well, like they say... the stuff that is good for you may not be the most pleasant. Well my friends... if you do catch a whiff of freaky strangeness whenever I flip my hair and are disturbed, please forgive me. Mea culpa!
