25 weeks

My darling one...

According to the sources I consulted, you will be approaching 13.5 inches from head to heel by the end of this week. Maybe a little smaller, since your parents are Asian.

Well then... God's gracious provisions for you have not ceased to amaze and overwhelm us. You've already got clothes to wear, a cot to sleep in, a play-pen, stroller, car-seat, high-chair and a little bicycle... just to name a few things. Hand-me-downs, these are... nevertheless, they are made of good stuff and will save mummy and daddy some money. Times are hard now. Prices have gone up (and daddy's salary hasn't). But we shall put our hope in the God of Jesus Christ - for He has proven Himself faithful. Together, we shall learn to be good stewards of His gifts to us.

Some of my favourite observations of you so far:

You are mostly quiet and still whenever mummy plays the piano and sings.

You wriggle, kick and get excited whenever mummy settles down for a rest. You do the same when mummy (and daddy) call your name, talk to you or rub the bump in which you are curled up. Sometimes you kick so vigorously that the bump wobbles... and it makes us laugh! You kick while mummy sits down with a book and tries to reflect on life. Or as she drives around in her Vios and savours her music. Or when she is happy and contented after a snack/meal. Sometimes, you kick the most crucial parts while mummy is concentrating too hard on her work - and it reminds her to take a much-needed toilet break.

It is heartwarming that you never wake mummy up from her naps or keep her awake in the night (maybe mummy is too heavy a sleeper). Well, except for that one night when you seemed to be turning somersaults all night long. New Year's Eve... especially after daddy left for his 4am prayer meeting (and mummy wanted to continue sleeping). You weren't that upset about not attending the meeting, were you?

You also move whenever mummy is upset - and it comforts her somehow. When mummy cried watching 7 번방의 선물, you did that little dance which made her joyful again. You are indeed an instrument of God's love and joy to your mummy (and daddy).

You are deeply loved. And wanted.

Our prayer for you is that you would be filled with the peace of Jesus Christ, the Emmanuel. Grow up well, little one!

Lots of love... from mummy and daddy.
