For He stooped down

Today, I was reminded of Psalm 113:5-9 (NIV, emphasis mine):

"Who is like the Lord our God,
    the One who sits enthroned on high,
who stoops down to look
    on the heavens and the earth?

He raises the poor from the dust
    and lifts the needy from the ash heap;
he seats them with princes,
    with the princes of his people.
He settles the childless woman in her home
    as a happy mother of children.
Praise the Lord."

Such a beautiful picture this is: God stooping down graciously from where He is exalted in His glory (vs 4) so that He can look upon our humble dwellings, know us in our afflictions, and meet us where we are - ultimately in the Person and work of Jesus Christ on earth.

I pray that I might emulate Christ and exude His grace in my illustration work for the children.

I pray that I might always remember to stoop down to look into a child's world, see it through the eyes of a child and marvel at the very things that fascinate, grip, intrigue, dismay and move the heart. Subsequently, meet them where they are. Perhaps then, I might be more effective in making the Gospel come alive for them.

Holy Spirit... pray, enable me.
