T'was a very happy day for Sophie.
Rach, Nick and Sophie |
1. Solid food:
Daily staples (aside from breast milk) include organic oats, Greek yoghurt and at least two fruits (so far, we've given her apples, pears, bananas, papaya, persimmon, grapes and a little dragon fruit from my breakfast - all with no problems). She sips water throughout the day (thankfully she likes water), sometimes from a cup with adult assistance.
Occasionally, she eats carrots, sweet potatoes, broth, avocado and brown rice cereal.
The only food/sustenance to which she is rather resistant at this point is formula milk. :/
2. Potty training:
I guess I have said enough about this in the past few weeks. Therefore, no poo talk for this post.
3. Other Milestones:
Mamama and Papapa are in her vocabulary now. However, I don't think she knows what they truly mean (yet); neither does she know how much delight her utterances of those words bring to her listeners.
Sophie sits unsupported for longer and longer periods of time now. She is able to move into an all fours position from sitting, rock on her hands and knees... and crawl. Recently, she has also begun to pull herself up to a kneeling position or half-stand by holding onto the side-bar of her cot. Her real motivation is so that she can chew on it! She chews on everything, by the way. Anything that she can get her hands on - even the musical keyboard that we let her bang on sometimes. (So much for a pianist mother.)
Apart from swimming, dancing to daddy's amateur beat-boxing is her sport for now.
Her favourite games are Peekaboo, hide-and-seek (the adults hide while she "seeks" by walking/running around the house in her walker)... and chewing on her toys. She also loves it when Ben and I bring her out in the evening for walks around the compound; there are so many interesting things to see - plants, fish in the pond, etc.
Sophie sleeps from 9pm to 7-8am on an average night - and naps twice a day. She still wakes up for milk in the night - and we are not too concerned about her not sleeping through the night for now.
I haven't really gone into the "educational things" some of my mummy friends suggested so far. Signing time, Baby Einstein, flash cards and stuff. (Being laidback is nice...) I guess I will start to consider them in the month ahead.
Well, then. Here is to another good month ahead.
