Trust

I think it's an honour to be trusted so much - even if it was by just one person. Not merely an honour, but a test. A test of humility. Pride lies to us, telling us that we are very trustworthy, that we can do something for the trustee because we're awesome (and indispensable), that we are among the best kind of friends one could have. But the truth is... we need God to do what we cannot do for others, even those who trust us. We need Him to help us to not breach confidentiality. We need God to help us to be reliable and not misuse our knowledge. We need God's strength to love tenaciously. We need God's wisdom to speak into the trustee's life without elevating ourselves as self-made sages.

And so, what do you do when the secret weighs you down with grief because you love the person too much?

I guess the only solution is to trust God, whose love for that person far exceeds your own.
