Sophie's very first genuine expressions of gratitude to God were about empty parking lots. Her daddy and mummy were famished. We were going for dinner at the mall. The only problem: we had to park the car. Long weekends in Penang always means lots of people everywhere, locals and non-locals alike. And they love to hang out at the mall(s) in the evenings. Somehow.
Finding an empty parking lot in a crowded car park is such a blessing, isn't it?
Yes, thank You God. Not only for empty parking lots but also everything we have in life, including life itself. The human lifespan encompasses a lot of pain and grief, undeniably. Some suffer more than others. Yet, life is worth living because of the potentials in us - to imagine, create, relate, love, discover and grow.
And to laugh.
I thank God for Sophie. The one who makes me laugh so often over the littlest things.
Tonight, she asked me at bedtime what "parents" meant. When I told her that "mummy and daddy are your parents", she suddenly pulled me close, gave me a big hug and kissed me on the lips. I wasn't sure why, but it was certainly nice.
I am blessed to be your parent, Sophie.
