In class today, I was reminded of this phrase - "God's Heartbeat". Pastor Clement Chong was saying something along the lines of, "Pastors should always seek to know the heartbeat of God in all things - be it his life or ministry..."
I remember that a dear South African brother, Johann (who was one of those who truly encouraged me to obey God's calling upon my life), once talked to me about pursuing and discerning God's heartbeat for my life... rather than merely leaning on my own understanding of what I should be doing with my life and giftings. Pastor Clement said very similar things in class today. The words that truly caught my attention were these: "Don't say NEVER and limit what God would like to do in your life if you allowed Him to. We rob ourselves of the blessings we could have received by being open to His heartbeat." Spoke to me...because I remembered Johann's words to me - before I left Dublin in 2006 and spent the next 3 years seeking God's will about His timing for me to leave the medical field for a different field (and "less-green" pastures if you like). I will probably share about the calling some other time.
Are you on the journey to know what God's heartbeat for your life is?
