And we've arrived at yet another Friday to celebrate.
Today, I celebrate the opportunities I have had throughout the week to indulge the kids I teach.
In the past few days, I have been distributing Chinese New Year angpows (red packets filled with money) to the little rascals behind my frequent transformer-ing into a broken gramophone. There isn't much in the angpows - and the kids probably know that (well, I did, when I was a kid). But it is always wonderful to see a kid's smiling face whenever an angpow is received. Their "thank you, Miss Grace/Teacher"s are precious. (One of the littlest ones even so solemnly said, "Merry Christmas" upon receiving her angpow today!) And even when one runs away joyfully without saying thank you, my heart is warmed to know that I've made a difference to a child's day. Since I don't know if I will be still seeing them around next Chinese New Year (nobody knows what tomorrow will bring), I am definitely cherishing those smiles and tucking them as keepsakes into the diary of my memories. I pray that God would use me to bless the kids I teach more than I can do with mere angpows.
As I was typing the above paragraph, I was struck by a thought: "How many more Fridays will I be able to celebrate before I am called home to the Lord?"
Nobody knows what tomorrow will bring.
