A Valentines' Day reflection...

I completed the first draft of my Romans Paper in time for Valentines' Day. God be praised. I hope to return to it after I am done with my liturgy-and-sacraments papers. All the deadlines fall on the same day - 1st March 2013.

I have never really celebrated Valentines' Day - save that year some of us, singles, back in Every Nation Dublin decided to have dinner with together at Cindy and Martin's lovely abode. Oh... and last year, when my hubby and I decided to have a spontaneous dinner date on Valentines' Day just for the sake of fun. He surprised me a bouquet of roses too.

Valentines' Day for Ben and myself is just like any other day - except that prices of flowers and restaurants are way more unaffordable than usual. However, I try to make it a habit to reflect on the friendships that I have been blessed with.

Naturally, I am not an extremely sociable person - being an introvert who loves her alone time. I am sensitive and can be very painfully shy too, since I am often under the impression that people do not approve of me in one way or another (thank God my self-esteem's much better today than years ago). I don't really like parties whereby I am surrounded by a lot of strangers (and to some, potential acquaintances); I am just too awkward for those. I am not too good at keeping in touch with people, unless it's Facebook, Twitter, blogs and Whatsapp. (I am trying to hang out more with people though.) But, I thank God that He has yet given me wonderful friends... and close friendships in which I enjoy playing my part in fostering. I thank God for kindred spirits, prayer partners, covenant sisters, best friends, coffee buddies, CG members, church friends, amazing colleagues.... and an awesome hubby. I pray that I'll be a good friend indeed - one who loves, gives, inspires, cares and empowers.

Happy Valentines' Day, folks!
