Happy 6 months, Princess! |
This was a first for us. We even wondered if she had forgotten how to poo. The doctors and nurses we encountered that week (during her jab appointments) told us not to worry. "It will come. Breastmilk is a laxative. If she doesn't go, it could mean that she is having a growth spurt..."
Anyway, this happened while we were staying at Ben's parents' abode. Throughout the week, all of us had never been more eager to discover poo in her nappy. We toyed with ideas on how we could get Princess to poo; and we were into the rather sadistic guessing game on whom the "lucky" caretaker would be when she finally pooed. Yes - the ultimate poo. After n days of not pooing. Exciting!
On the final day, I decided that I would give Princess some mashed up apple to see if it would help her to go - since it is time for us to introduce solid foods to her anyway. This was Saturday. Sophie loved it. (We have moved her on to bananas today. And sipping water from the cup with a straw!)
Sunday came. Still no sign of poo. We went to church - and then Ben and I had lunch with Mellisa and Sunil. Banana leaf curry rice. Sophie was on Ben's lap when he thought he spotted curry from our lunch on his trousers. His first thought: Sophie had gotten her hands on the curry.
The curry smelled like poo.
Wait. It was poo. The ULTIMATE poo. Poo strike over!
I shall spare you further details. It is more important that Sophie is now only half a year from her very first birthday.
She never ceases to melt my heart with her smiles, giggles and cries. Every night, she either snuggles up to me in bed (still co-sleeping, we are) or kicks me in her sleep. Both ways, I feel like the luckiest woman in the world, despite my fiercest struggles as a mother.
Happy sixth month, baby. Love you, sweetheart!
